The Apache Xalan Java XSLT library is vulnerable to an integer truncation issue when processing malicious XSLT stylesheets. This can be used to corrupt Java class files generated by the internal XSLTC compiler and execute arbitrary Java bytecode. Users are recommended to update to version 2.7.3 or later. Note: Java runtimes (such as OpenJDK) include repackaged copies of Xalan.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
kcm: fix strp_init() order and cleanup
strp_init() is called just a few lines above this csk->sk_user_data
check, it also initializes strp->work etc., therefore, it is
unnecessary to call strp_done() to cancel the freshly initialized
work.
And if sk_user_data is already used by KCM, psock->strp should not be
touched, particularly strp->work state, so we need to move strp_init()
after the csk->sk_user_data check.
This also makes a lockdep warning reported by syzbot go away.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
btrfs: skip reserved bytes warning on unmount after log cleanup failure
After the recent changes made by commit c2e39305299f01 ("btrfs: clear
extent buffer uptodate when we fail to write it") and its followup fix,
commit 651740a5024117 ("btrfs: check WRITE_ERR when trying to read an
extent buffer"), we can now end up not cleaning up space reservations of
log tree extent buffers after a transaction abort happens, as well as not
cleaning up still dirty extent buffers.
This happens because if writeback for a log tree extent buffer failed,
then we have cleared the bit EXTENT_BUFFER_UPTODATE from the extent buffer
and we have also set the bit EXTENT_BUFFER_WRITE_ERR on it. Later on,
when trying to free the log tree with free_log_tree(), which iterates
over the tree, we can end up getting an -EIO error when trying to read
a node or a leaf, since read_extent_buffer_pages() returns -EIO if an
extent buffer does not have EXTENT_BUFFER_UPTODATE set and has the
EXTENT_BUFFER_WRITE_ERR bit set. Getting that -EIO means that we return
immediately as we can not iterate over the entire tree.
In that case we never update the reserved space for an extent buffer in
the respective block group and space_info object.
When this happens we get the following traces when unmounting the fs:
[174957.284509] BTRFS: error (device dm-0) in cleanup_transaction:1913: errno=-5 IO failure
[174957.286497] BTRFS: error (device dm-0) in free_log_tree:3420: errno=-5 IO failure

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ftrace: Fix use-after-free for dynamic ftrace_ops
KASAN reported a use-after-free with ftrace ops [1]. It was found from
vmcore that perf had registered two ops with the same content
successively, both dynamic. After unregistering the second ops, a
use-after-free occurred.
In ftrace_shutdown(), when the second ops is unregistered, the
FTRACE_UPDATE_CALLS command is not set because there is another enabled
ops with the same content. Also, both ops are dynamic and the ftrace
callback function is ftrace_ops_list_func, so the
FTRACE_UPDATE_TRACE_FUNC command will not be set. Eventually the value
of 'command' will be 0 and ftrace_shutdown() will skip the rcu
synchronization.
However, ftrace may be activated. When the ops is released, another CPU
may be accessing the ops. Add the missing synchronization to fix this
problem.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ring-buffer: Check for NULL cpu_buffer in ring_buffer_wake_waiters()
On some machines the number of listed CPUs may be bigger than the actual
CPUs that exist. The tracing subsystem allocates a per_cpu directory with
access to the per CPU ring buffer via a cpuX file. But to save space, the
ring buffer will only allocate buffers for online CPUs, even though the
CPU array will be as big as the nr_cpu_ids.
With the addition of waking waiters on the ring buffer when closing the
file, the ring_buffer_wake_waiters() now needs to make sure that the
buffer is allocated (with the irq_work allocated with it) before trying to
wake waiters, as it will cause a NULL pointer dereference.
While debugging this, I added a NULL check for the buffer itself (which is
OK to do), and also NULL pointer checks against buffer->buffers (which is
not fine, and will WARN) as well as making sure the CPU number passed in
is within the nr_cpu_ids (which is also not fine if it isn't).

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: gso: fix panic on frag_list with mixed head alloc types
Since commit 3dcbdb134f32 ("net: gso: Fix skb_segment splat when
splitting gso_size mangled skb having linear-headed frag_list"), it is
allowed to change gso_size of a GRO packet. However, that commit assumes
that "checking the first list_skb member suffices; i.e if either of the
list_skb members have non head_frag head, then the first one has too".
It turns out this assumption does not hold. We've seen BUG_ON being hit
in skb_segment when skbs on the frag_list had differing head_frag with
the vmxnet3 driver. This happens because __netdev_alloc_skb and
__napi_alloc_skb can return a skb that is page backed or kmalloced
depending on the requested size. As the result, the last small skb in
the GRO packet can be kmalloced.
There are three different locations where this can be fixed:
(1) We could check head_frag in GRO and not allow GROing skbs with
different head_frag. However, that would lead to performance
regression on normal forward paths with unmodified gso_size, where
!head_frag in the last packet is not a problem.
(2) Set a flag in bpf_skb_net_grow and bpf_skb_net_shrink indicating
that NETIF_F_SG is undesirable. That would need to eat a bit in
sk_buff. Furthermore, that flag can be unset when all skbs on the
frag_list are page backed. To retain good performance,
bpf_skb_net_grow/shrink would have to walk the frag_list.
(3) Walk the frag_list in skb_segment when determining whether
NETIF_F_SG should be cleared. This of course slows things down.
This patch implements (3). To limit the performance impact in
skb_segment, the list is walked only for skbs with SKB_GSO_DODGY set
that have gso_size changed. Normal paths thus will not hit it.
We could check only the last skb but since we need to walk the whole
list anyway, let's stay on the safe side.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
can: af_can: fix NULL pointer dereference in can_rx_register()
It causes NULL pointer dereference when testing as following:
(a) use syscall(__NR_socket, 0x10ul, 3ul, 0) to create netlink socket.
(b) use syscall(__NR_sendmsg, ...) to create bond link device and vxcan
link device, and bind vxcan device to bond device (can also use
ifenslave command to bind vxcan device to bond device).
(c) use syscall(__NR_socket, 0x1dul, 3ul, 1) to create CAN socket.
(d) use syscall(__NR_bind, ...) to bind the bond device to CAN socket.
The bond device invokes the can-raw protocol registration interface to
receive CAN packets. However, ml_priv is not allocated to the dev,
dev_rcv_lists is assigned to NULL in can_rx_register(). In this case,
it will occur the NULL pointer dereference issue.

cfg80211: fix race in netlink owner interface destruction
My previous fix here to fix the deadlock left a race where
the exact same deadlock (see the original commit referenced
below) can still happen if cfg80211_destroy_ifaces() already
runs while nl80211_netlink_notify() is still marking some
interfaces as nl_owner_dead.
The race happens because we have two loops here - first we
dev_close() all the netdevs, and then we destroy them. If we
also have two netdevs (first one need only be a wdev though)
then we can find one during the first iteration, close it,
and go to the second iteration -- but then find two, and try
to destroy also the one we didn't close yet.
Fix this by only iterating once.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
efi: runtime: avoid EFIv2 runtime services on Apple x86 machines
Aditya reports [0] that his recent MacbookPro crashes in the firmware
when using the variable services at runtime. The culprit appears to be a
call to QueryVariableInfo(), which we did not use to call on Apple x86
machines in the past as they only upgraded from EFI v1.10 to EFI v2.40
firmware fairly recently, and QueryVariableInfo() (along with
UpdateCapsule() et al) was added in EFI v2.00.
The only runtime service introduced in EFI v2.00 that we actually use in
Linux is QueryVariableInfo(), as the capsule based ones are optional,
generally not used at runtime (all the LVFS/fwupd firmware update
infrastructure uses helper EFI programs that invoke capsule update at
boot time, not runtime), and not implemented by Apple machines in the
first place. QueryVariableInfo() is used to 'safely' set variables,
i.e., only when there is enough space. This prevents machines with buggy
firmwares from corrupting their NVRAMs when they run out of space.
Given that Apple machines have been using EFI v1.10 services only for
the longest time (the EFI v2.0 spec was released in 2006, and Linux
support for the newly introduced runtime services was added in 2011, but
the MacbookPro12,1 released in 2015 still claims to be EFI v1.10 only),
let's avoid the EFI v2.0 ones on all Apple x86 machines.

In case that a crash of the same reason happens in smc_getsockopt()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/smc: Forward wakeup to smc socket waitqueue after fallback
When we replace TCP with SMC and a fallback occurs, there may be
some socket waitqueue entries remaining in smc socket->wq, such
as eppoll_entries inserted by userspace applications.
After the fallback, data flows over TCP/IP and only clcsocket->wq
will be woken up. Applications can't be notified by the entries
which were inserted in smc socket->wq before fallback. So we need
a mechanism to wake up smc socket->wq at the same time if some
entries remaining in it.
The current workaround is to transfer the entries from smc socket->wq
to clcsock->wq during the fallback. But this may cause a crash
like this:

The crash is caused by privately transferring waitqueue entries from
smc socket->wq to clcsock->wq. The owners of these entries, such as
epoll, have no idea that the entries have been transferred to a
different socket wait queue and still use original waitqueue spinlock
(smc socket->wq.wait.lock) to make the entries operation exclusive,
but it doesn't work. The operations to the entries, such as removing
from the waitqueue (now is clcsock->wq after fallback), may cause a
crash when clcsock waitqueue is being iterated over at the moment.
This patch tries to fix this by no longer transferring wait queue
entries privately, but introducing own implementations of clcsock's
callback functions in fallback situation. The callback functions will
forward the wakeup to smc socket->wq if clcsock->wq is actually woken
up and smc socket->wq has remaining entries.

An issue was discovered in Galleon NTS-6002-GPS 4.14.103-Galleon-NTS-6002.V12 4. An authenticated attacker can perform command injection as root via shell metacharacters within the Network Tools section of the web-management interface. All three networking tools are affected (Ping, Traceroute, and DNS Lookup) and their respective input fields (ping_address, trace_address, nslookup_address). NOTE: this is disputed by the Supplier because the affected components were never shipped in a production release (they were only present in development releases), and because no privilege boundary is crossed (an applicable "authenticated attacker" always also has the supported ability to make an SSH connection as root).

The BN_mod_sqrt() function, which computes a modular square root, contains a bug that can cause it to loop forever for non-prime moduli. Internally this function is used when parsing certificates that contain elliptic curve public keys in compressed form or explicit elliptic curve parameters with a base point encoded in compressed form. It is possible to trigger the infinite loop by crafting a certificate that has invalid explicit curve parameters. Since certificate parsing happens prior to verification of the certificate signature, any process that parses an externally supplied certificate may thus be subject to a denial of service attack. The infinite loop can also be reached when parsing crafted private keys as they can contain explicit elliptic curve parameters. Thus vulnerable situations include: - TLS clients consuming server certificates - TLS servers consuming client certificates - Hosting providers taking certificates or private keys from customers - Certificate authorities parsing certification requests from subscribers - Anything else which parses ASN.1 elliptic curve parameters Also any other applications that use the BN_mod_sqrt() where the attacker can control the parameter values are vulnerable to this DoS issue. In the OpenSSL 1.0.2 version the public key is not parsed during initial parsing of the certificate which makes it slightly harder to trigger the infinite loop. However any operation which requires the public key from the certificate will trigger the infinite loop. In particular the attacker can use a self-signed certificate to trigger the loop during verification of the certificate signature. This issue affects OpenSSL versions 1.0.2, 1.1.1 and 3.0. It was addressed in the releases of 1.1.1n and 3.0.2 on the 15th March 2022. Fixed in OpenSSL 3.0.2 (Affected 3.0.0,3.0.1). Fixed in OpenSSL 1.1.1n (Affected 1.1.1-1.1.1m).
