A flaw was found in the asynchronous message queue handling of the libsoup library, widely used by GNOME and WebKit-based applications to manage HTTP/2 communications. When network operations are aborted at specific timing intervals, an internal message queue item may be freed twice due to missing state synchronization. This leads to a use-after-free memory access, potentially crashing the affected application. Attackers could exploit this behavior remotely by triggering specific HTTP/2 read and cancel sequences, resulting in a denial-of-service condition.

A data corruption vulnerability has been identified in the luksmeta utility when used with the LUKS1 disk encryption format. An attacker with the necessary permissions can exploit this flaw by writing a large amount of metadata to an encrypted device. The utility fails to correctly validate the available space, causing the metadata to overwrite and corrupt the user's encrypted data. This action leads to a permanent loss of the stored information. Devices using the LUKS formats other than LUKS1 are not affected by this issue.

ACE vulnerability in conditional configuration file processing by QOS.CH logback-core up to and including version 1.5.18 in Java applications, allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code by compromising an existing logback configuration file or by injecting an environment variable before program execution.
A successful attack requires the presence of Janino library and Spring Framework to be present on the user's class path. In addition, the attacker must have write access to a
configuration file. Alternatively, the attacker could inject a malicious
environment variable pointing to a malicious configuration file. In both
cases, the attack requires existing privilege.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/sched: sch_qfq: Fix null-deref in agg_dequeue
To prevent a potential crash in agg_dequeue (net/sched/sch_qfq.c)
when cl->qdisc->ops->peek(cl->qdisc) returns NULL, we check the return
value before using it, similar to the existing approach in sch_hfsc.c.
To avoid code duplication, the following changes are made:
1. Changed qdisc_warn_nonwc(include/net/pkt_sched.h) into a static
inline function.
2. Moved qdisc_peek_len from net/sched/sch_hfsc.c to
include/net/pkt_sched.h so that sch_qfq can reuse it.
3. Applied qdisc_peek_len in agg_dequeue to avoid crashing.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/sched: Fix potential double free in drm_sched_job_add_resv_dependencies
When adding dependencies with drm_sched_job_add_dependency(), that
function consumes the fence reference both on success and failure, so in
the latter case the dma_fence_put() on the error path (xarray failed to
expand) is a double free.
Interestingly this bug appears to have been present ever since
commit ebd5f74255b9 ("drm/sched: Add dependency tracking"), since the code
back then looked like this:
drm_sched_job_add_implicit_dependencies():
...
for (i = 0; i < fence_count; i++) {
ret = drm_sched_job_add_dependency(job, fences[i]);
if (ret)
break;
}
for (; i < fence_count; i++)
dma_fence_put(fences[i]);
Which means for the failing 'i' the dma_fence_put was already a double
free. Possibly there were no users at that time, or the test cases were
insufficient to hit it.
The bug was then only noticed and fixed after
commit 9c2ba265352a ("drm/scheduler: use new iterator in drm_sched_job_add_implicit_dependencies v2")
landed, with its fixup of
commit 4eaf02d6076c ("drm/scheduler: fix drm_sched_job_add_implicit_dependencies").
At that point it was a slightly different flavour of a double free, which
commit 963d0b356935 ("drm/scheduler: fix drm_sched_job_add_implicit_dependencies harder")
noticed and attempted to fix.
But it only moved the double free from happening inside the
drm_sched_job_add_dependency(), when releasing the reference not yet
obtained, to the caller, when releasing the reference already released by
the former in the failure case.
As such it is not easy to identify the right target for the fixes tag so
lets keep it simple and just continue the chain.
While fixing we also improve the comment and explain the reason for taking
the reference and not dropping it.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smc: Fix use-after-free in __pnet_find_base_ndev().
syzbot reported use-after-free of net_device in __pnet_find_base_ndev(),
which was called during connect(). [0]
smc_pnet_find_ism_resource() fetches sk_dst_get(sk)->dev and passes
down to pnet_find_base_ndev(), where RTNL is held. Then, UAF happened
at __pnet_find_base_ndev() when the dev is first used.
This means dev had already been freed before acquiring RTNL in
pnet_find_base_ndev().
While dev is going away, dst->dev could be swapped with blackhole_netdev,
and the dev's refcnt by dst will be released.
We must hold dev's refcnt before calling smc_pnet_find_ism_resource().
Also, smc_pnet_find_roce_resource() has the same problem.
Let's use __sk_dst_get() and dst_dev_rcu() in the two functions.

The iMON driver improperly releases the usb_device reference in
imon_disconnect without coordinating with active users of the
device.
Specifically, the fields usbdev_intf0 and usbdev_intf1 are not
protected by the users counter (ictx->users). During probe,
imon_init_intf0 or imon_init_intf1 increments the usb_device
reference count depending on the interface. However, during
disconnect, usb_put_dev is called unconditionally, regardless of
actual usage.
As a result, if vfd_write or other operations are still in
progress after disconnect, this can lead to a use-after-free of
the usb_device pointer.
Thread 1 vfd_write Thread 2 imon_disconnect

ictx->usbdev_intf0) UAF
else

ictx->usbdev_intf0, 0) UAF
Guard access to usbdev_intf0 and usbdev_intf1 after disconnect by
checking ictx->disconnected in all writer paths. Add early return
with -ENODEV in send_packet(), vfd_write(), lcd_write() and
display_open() if the device is no longer present.
Set and read ictx->disconnected under ictx->lock to ensure memory
synchronization. Acquire the lock in imon_disconnect() before setting
the flag to synchronize with any ongoing operations.
Ensure writers exit early and safely after disconnect before the USB
core proceeds with cleanup.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tls: make sure to abort the stream if headers are bogus
Normally we wait for the socket to buffer up the whole record
before we service it. If the socket has a tiny buffer, however,
we read out the data sooner, to prevent connection stalls.
Make sure that we abort the connection when we find out late
that the record is actually invalid. Retrying the parsing is
fine in itself but since we copy some more data each time
before we parse we can overflow the allocated skb space.
Constructing a scenario in which we're under pressure without
enough data in the socket to parse the length upfront is quite
hard. syzbot figured out a way to do this by serving us the header
in small OOB sends, and then filling in the recvbuf with a large
normal send.
Make sure that tls_rx_msg_size() aborts strp, if we reach
an invalid record there's really no way to recover.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
cnic: Fix use-after-free bugs in cnic_delete_task
The original code uses cancel_delayed_work() in cnic_cm_stop_bnx2x_hw(),
which does not guarantee that the delayed work item 'delete_task' has
fully completed if it was already running. Additionally, the delayed work
item is cyclic, the flush_workqueue() in cnic_cm_stop_bnx2x_hw() only
blocks and waits for work items that were already queued to the
workqueue prior to its invocation. Any work items submitted after
flush_workqueue() is called are not included in the set of tasks that the
flush operation awaits. This means that after the cyclic work items have
finished executing, a delayed work item may still exist in the workqueue.
This leads to use-after-free scenarios where the cnic_dev is deallocated
by cnic_free_dev(), while delete_task remains active and attempt to
dereference cnic_dev in cnic_delete_task().
A typical race condition is illustrated below:
CPU 0 (cleanup) | CPU 1 (delayed work callback)
cnic_netdev_event() |
cnic_stop_hw() | cnic_delete_task()
cnic_cm_stop_bnx2x_hw() | ...
cancel_delayed_work() | /* the queue_delayed_work()
flush_workqueue() | executes after flush_workqueue()*/
| queue_delayed_work()
cnic_free_dev(dev)//free | cnic_delete_task() //new instance
| dev = cp->dev; //use
Replace cancel_delayed_work() with cancel_delayed_work_sync() to ensure
that the cyclic delayed work item is properly canceled and that any
ongoing execution of the work item completes before the cnic_dev is
deallocated. Furthermore, since cancel_delayed_work_sync() uses
__flush_work(work, true) to synchronously wait for any currently
executing instance of the work item to finish, the flush_workqueue()
becomes redundant and should be removed.
This bug was identified through static analysis. To reproduce the issue
and validate the fix, I simulated the cnic PCI device in QEMU and
introduced intentional delays — such as inserting calls to ssleep()
within the cnic_delete_task() function — to increase the likelihood
of triggering the bug.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tcp_bpf: Call sk_msg_free() when tcp_bpf_send_verdict() fails to allocate psock->cork.
syzbot reported the splat below. [0]
The repro does the following:
1. Load a sk_msg prog that calls bpf_msg_cork_bytes(msg, cork_bytes)
2. Attach the prog to a SOCKMAP
3. Add a socket to the SOCKMAP
4. Activate fault injection
5. Send data less than cork_bytes
At 5., the data is carried over to the next sendmsg() as it is
smaller than the cork_bytes specified by bpf_msg_cork_bytes().
Then, tcp_bpf_send_verdict() tries to allocate psock->cork to hold
the data, but this fails silently due to fault injection + __GFP_NOWARN.
If the allocation fails, we need to revert the sk->sk_forward_alloc
change done by sk_msg_alloc().
Let's call sk_msg_free() when tcp_bpf_send_verdict fails to allocate
psock->cork.
The "*copied" also needs to be updated such that a proper error can
be returned to the caller, sendmsg. It fails to allocate psock->cork.
Nothing has been corked so far, so this patch simply sets "*copied"
to 0.

ALSA: usb-audio: fix race condition to UAF in snd_usbmidi_free
The previous commit 0718a78f6a9f ("ALSA: usb-audio: Kill timer properly at
removal") patched a UAF issue caused by the error timer.
However, because the error timer kill added in this patch occurs after the
endpoint delete, a race condition to UAF still occurs, albeit rarely.
Additionally, since kill-cleanup for urb is also missing, freed memory can
be accessed in interrupt context related to urb, which can cause UAF.
Therefore, to prevent this, error timer and urb must be killed before
freeing the heap memory.

A flaw was found in QEMU. If the QIOChannelWebsock object is freed while it is waiting to complete a handshake, a GSource is leaked. This can lead to the callback firing later on and triggering a use-after-free in the use of the channel. This can be abused by a malicious client with network access to the VNC WebSocket port to cause a denial of service during the WebSocket handshake prior to the VNC client authentication.

Git LFS is a Git extension for versioning large files. In Git LFS versions 0.5.2 through 3.7.0, when populating a Git repository's working tree with the contents of Git LFS objects, certain Git LFS commands may write to files visible outside the current Git working tree if symbolic or hard links exist which collide with the paths of files tracked by Git LFS. The git lfs checkout and git lfs pull commands do not check for symbolic links before writing to files in the working tree, allowing an attacker to craft a repository containing symbolic or hard links that cause Git LFS to write to arbitrary file system locations accessible to the user running these commands. As well, when the git lfs checkout and git lfs pull commands are run in a bare repository, they could write to files visible outside the repository. The vulnerability is fixed in version 3.7.1. As a workaround, support for symlinks in Git may be disabled by setting the core.symlinks configuration option to false, after which further clones and fetches will not create symbolic links. However, any symbolic or hard links in existing repositories will still provide the opportunity for Git LFS to write to their targets.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ksmbd: Fix race condition in RPC handle list access
The 'sess->rpc_handle_list' XArray manages RPC handles within a ksmbd
session. Access to this list is intended to be protected by
'sess->rpc_lock' (an rw_semaphore). However, the locking implementation was
flawed, leading to potential race conditions.
In ksmbd_session_rpc_open(), the code incorrectly acquired only a read lock
before calling xa_store() and xa_erase(). Since these operations modify
the XArray structure, a write lock is required to ensure exclusive access
and prevent data corruption from concurrent modifications.
Furthermore, ksmbd_session_rpc_method() accessed the list using xa_load()
without holding any lock at all. This could lead to reading inconsistent
data or a potential use-after-free if an entry is concurrently removed and
the pointer is dereferenced.
Fix these issues by:
1. Using down_write() and up_write() in ksmbd_session_rpc_open()
to ensure exclusive access during XArray modification, and ensuring
the lock is correctly released on error paths.
2. Adding down_read() and up_read() in ksmbd_session_rpc_method()
to safely protect the lookup.

btrfs: fix memory leaks when rejecting a non SINGLE data profile without an RST
At the end of btrfs_load_block_group_zone_info() the first thing we do
is to ensure that if the mapping type is not a SINGLE one and there is
no RAID stripe tree, then we return early with an error.
Doing that, though, prevents the code from running the last calls from
this function which are about freeing memory allocated during its
run. Hence, in this case, instead of returning early, we set the ret
value and fall through the rest of the cleanup code.

When hfsplus_uni2asc is called from hfsplus_listxattr,
it actually passes in a struct hfsplus_attr_unistr*.
The size of the corresponding structure is different from that of hfsplus_unistr,
so the previous fix (94458781aee6) is insufficient.
The pointer on the unicode buffer is still going beyond the allocated memory.
This patch introduces two warpper functions hfsplus_uni2asc_xattr_str and
hfsplus_uni2asc_str to process two unicode buffers,
struct hfsplus_attr_unistr* and struct hfsplus_unistr* respectively.
When ustrlen value is bigger than the allocated memory size,
the ustrlen value is limited to an safe size.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tty: n_gsm: Don't block input queue by waiting MSC
Currently gsm_queue() processes incoming frames and when opening
a DLC channel it calls gsm_dlci_open() which calls gsm_modem_update().
If basic mode is used it calls gsm_modem_upd_via_msc() and it
cannot block the input queue by waiting the response to come
into the same input queue.
Instead allow sending Modem Status Command without waiting for remote
end to respond. Define a new function gsm_modem_send_initial_msc()
for this purpose. As MSC is only valid for basic encoding, it does
not do anything for advanced or when convergence layer type 2 is used.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
fs/ntfs3: reject index allocation if $BITMAP is empty but blocks exist
Index allocation requires at least one bit in the $BITMAP attribute to
track usage of index entries. If the bitmap is empty while index blocks
are already present, this reflects on-disk corruption.
syzbot triggered this condition using a malformed NTFS image. During a
rename() operation involving a long filename (which spans multiple
index entries), the empty bitmap allowed the name to be added without
valid tracking. Subsequent deletion of the original entry failed with
-ENOENT, due to unexpected index state.
Reject such cases by verifying that the bitmap is not empty when index
blocks exist.

This occurs when memset() is called on a buffer that is not 4-byte aligned
and extends to the end of a guard page, i.e. the next page is unmapped.
The bug is that the loop at the end of kmsan_internal_set_shadow_origin()
accesses the wrong shadow memory bytes when the address is not 4-byte
aligned. Since each 4 bytes are associated with an origin, it rounds the
address and size so that it can access all the origins that contain the
buffer. However, when it checks the corresponding shadow bytes for a
particular origin, it incorrectly uses the original unrounded shadow
address. This results in reads from shadow memory beyond the end of the
buffer's shadow memory, which crashes when that memory is not mapped.
To fix this, correctly align the shadow address before accessing the 4
shadow bytes corresponding to each origin.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfs: fix reference leak
Commit 20d72b00ca81 ("netfs: Fix the request's work item to not
require a ref") modified netfs_alloc_request() to initialize the
reference counter to 2 instead of 1. The rationale was that the
requet's "work" would release the second reference after completion
(via netfs_{read,write}_collection_worker()). That works most of the
time if all goes well.
However, it leaks this additional reference if the request is released
before the I/O operation has been submitted: the error code path only
decrements the reference counter once and the work item will never be
queued because there will never be a completion.
This has caused outages of our whole server cluster today because
tasks were blocked in netfs_wait_for_outstanding_io(), leading to
deadlocks in Ceph (another bug that I will address soon in another
patch). This was caused by a netfs_pgpriv2_begin_copy_to_cache() call
which failed in fscache_begin_write_operation(). The leaked
netfs_io_request was never completed, leaving `netfs_inode.io_count`
with a positive value forever.
All of this is super-fragile code. Finding out which code paths will
lead to an eventual completion and which do not is hard to see:
- Some functions like netfs_create_write_req() allocate a request, but
will never submit any I/O.
- netfs_unbuffered_read_iter_locked() calls netfs_unbuffered_read()
and then netfs_put_request(); however, netfs_unbuffered_read() can
also fail early before submitting the I/O request, therefore another
netfs_put_request() call must be added there.
A rule of thumb is that functions that return a `netfs_io_request` do
not submit I/O, and all of their callers must be checked.
For my taste, the whole netfs code needs an overhaul to make reference
counting easier to understand and less fragile & obscure. But to fix
this bug here and now and produce a patch that is adequate for a
stable backport, I tried a minimal approach that quickly frees the
request object upon early failure.
I decided against adding a second netfs_put_request() each time
because that would cause code duplication which obscures the code
further. Instead, I added the function netfs_put_failed_request()
which frees such a failed request synchronously under the assumption
that the reference count is exactly 2 (as initially set by
netfs_alloc_request() and never touched), verified by a
WARN_ON_ONCE(). It then deinitializes the request object (without
going through the "cleanup_work" indirection) and frees the allocation
(with RCU protection to protect against concurrent access by
netfs_requests_seq_start()).
All code paths that fail early have been changed to call
netfs_put_failed_request() instead of netfs_put_request().
Additionally, I have added a netfs_put_request() call to
netfs_unbuffered_read() as explained above because the
netfs_put_failed_request() approach does not work there.
