CVE-2026-23724: WeGIA Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) – atendido_idatendido Parameter on Occurrence Registration Page

WeGIA is a web manager for charitable institutions. Prior to 3.6.2, a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was identified in the html/atendido/cadastro_ocorrencia.php endpoint of the WeGIA application. The application does not sanitize user-controlled data before rendering it inside the “Atendido” selection dropdown. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.6.2.

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2026-23724 is a stored cross-site scripting issue in WeGIA, a web manager for charitable institutions. In versions before 3.6.2, user-controlled data can be rendered unsafely in an “Atendido” dropdown on the occurrence registration page. Business impact appears limited but real: an authenticated user could cause browser-side script execution and expose some user data.

Executive priority

Treat as a normal-priority remediation for affected WeGIA deployments. It is not currently supported as actively exploited, but stored XSS can affect staff sessions and sensitive institutional workflows. Upgrade during the next patch window, sooner if the application is exposed to many users.

Technical view

The flaw affects LabRedesCefetRJ WeGIA before 3.6.2, specifically html/atendido/cadastro_ocorrencia.php and the atendido_idatendido parameter context. It is classified as CWE-79. CVSS 3.1 is 4.3: network reachable, low complexity, low privileges required, no user interaction, unchanged scope, low confidentiality impact, no integrity or availability impact.

Likely exposure

Exposure is limited to organizations running WeGIA versions earlier than 3.6.2, especially where low-privileged authenticated users can access occurrence registration workflows. Public sources do not provide evidence of broad internet scanning or exploitation.

Exploitation context

The advisory describes stored XSS from unsanitized user-controlled data rendered in a dropdown. The CVSS vector indicates low privileges are required and no user interaction is required. The CVE is not marked KEV, and the supplied sources do not state active exploitation.

Researcher notes

Evidence is limited to the CVE record, GitHub advisory, pull request, and 3.6.2 release reference. The fix is explicitly stated as version 3.6.2. No public source in the bundle confirms exploitation in the wild or provides additional affected products.

Mitigation direction

  • Upgrade WeGIA to version 3.6.2 or later.
  • Review the vendor advisory and release notes before deployment.
  • Restrict WeGIA access to trusted users until upgraded.
  • Monitor for unexpected script-like content in affected records.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory WeGIA deployments and record installed versions.
  • Confirm no production instance runs a version earlier than 3.6.2.
  • Verify the 3.6.2 release or later is installed after remediation.
  • Review application records for suspicious stored content in affected workflows.
