CVE-2026-21451: Bagisto has HTML Filter Bypass that Enables Stored XSS

Bagisto is an open source laravel eCommerce platform. A stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in Bagisto prior to version 2.3.10 within the CMS page editor. Although the platform normally attempts to sanitize `<script>` tags, the filtering can be bypassed by manipulating the raw HTTP POST request before submission. As a result, arbitrary JavaScript can be stored in the CMS content and executed whenever the page is viewed or edited. This exposes administrators to a high-severity risk, including complete account takeover, backend hijacking, and malicious script execution. Version 2.3.10 fixes the issue.

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

Bagisto versions before 2.3.10 can store malicious JavaScript inside CMS page content despite script filtering. The attacker needs high privileges to modify CMS content, but the script can run when pages are viewed or edited. For eCommerce operators, the main concern is administrative session compromise or backend manipulation if a privileged account is abused.

Executive priority

Prioritize upgrade during the next remediation window, faster if the Bagisto admin interface is exposed or many users can edit CMS pages. This is not reported as actively exploited, but stored XSS in an eCommerce backend can materially affect administration integrity.

Technical view

CVE-2026-21451 is a stored XSS in Bagisto’s CMS page editor before 2.3.10. The advisory says script sanitization can be bypassed by manipulating the raw HTTP POST request before submission. CVSS 4.0 score is 5.2, with network access, low complexity, high privileges required, and high subsequent system confidentiality and integrity impact.

Likely exposure

Exposure is limited to Bagisto deployments below 2.3.10 where users with CMS editing privileges can create or modify pages. Internet-facing admin panels, shared administrator access, or compromised staff accounts increase practical risk.

Exploitation context

The source bundle does not indicate CISA KEV listing or confirmed active exploitation. The vulnerability requires privileged access to submit CMS content, so it is most relevant after credential compromise, insider misuse, or excessive admin/editor permissions.

Researcher notes

Evidence is based on the CVE record and GitHub advisory. The public details describe the vulnerable component and fixed version, but do not provide exploitation-in-the-wild evidence. Avoid assuming impact beyond Bagisto CMS content workflows and versions before 2.3.10.

Mitigation direction

  • Upgrade Bagisto to version 2.3.10 or later.
  • Review vendor advisory for any additional guidance.
  • Restrict CMS editing privileges to trusted administrators only.
  • Review recent CMS page changes for unexpected scripts or markup.
  • Limit admin panel exposure where operationally feasible.

Validation and detection

  • Identify deployed Bagisto versions and confirm they are at least 2.3.10.
  • Inventory accounts with CMS page editing privileges.
  • Inspect CMS pages for unexpected JavaScript or suspicious HTML.
  • Check access logs for unusual CMS edit activity.
  • Confirm the GitHub advisory applies to your deployment.
