CVE-2024-13534: Small Package Quotes – Worldwide Express Edition <= 5.2.18 - Unauthenticated SQL Injection

The Small Package Quotes – Worldwide Express Edition plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to SQL Injection via the 'edit_id' and 'dropship_edit_id' parameters in all versions up to, and including, 5.2.18 due to insufficient escaping on the user supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. CVE-2025-27268 is likely a duplicate of this issue.

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

This flaw affects a WordPress shipping quote plugin and can let an unauthenticated attacker read sensitive database information. The reported vulnerable range is all versions up to and including 5.2.18. The main business risk is disclosure of customer, order, or site data if the plugin is installed on an exposed WordPress site.

Executive priority

Treat this as a high-priority exposure for any public WordPress site using the plugin. The issue does not require login and targets database confidentiality, so remediation should be scheduled promptly after confirming installations.

Technical view

CVE-2024-13534 is a CWE-89 SQL injection in Small Package Quotes – Worldwide Express Edition. The CVE description identifies insufficient escaping and query preparation for the edit_id and dropship_edit_id parameters. The CVSS 3.1 score is 7.5, with network attack vector, low complexity, no privileges, no user interaction, and high confidentiality impact.

Likely exposure

Internet-facing WordPress sites using Small Package Quotes – Worldwide Express Edition up to and including 5.2.18 are the likely exposure population.

Exploitation context

The source bundle states unauthenticated exploitation is possible, but KEV is false and no cited source here confirms active exploitation in the wild.

Researcher notes

The bundle identifies edit_id and dropship_edit_id as affected parameters and notes CVE-2025-27268 is likely a duplicate. It does not provide active exploitation evidence or a named fixed version, so validation should stay focused on version inventory and vendor-published status.

Mitigation direction

  • Inventory WordPress sites for this specific plugin and version.
  • Check vendor, WordPress plugin, and Wordfence guidance for a fixed release.
  • Update to a confirmed non-vulnerable version when available.
  • Disable or remove the plugin where business use is not required.
  • Review database and WordPress logs for unusual unauthenticated parameter activity.

Validation and detection

  • Confirm whether the plugin is installed on each WordPress site.
  • Record the installed plugin version and compare it to 5.2.18.
  • Verify whether the site exposes plugin functionality publicly.
  • Check whether compensating controls log or block suspicious SQL injection attempts.
  • Document remediation status for each affected site.
