CVE-2022-40629: Sensitive Information Disclosure Vulnerability in Tacitine Firewall

This vulnerability exists in Tacitine Firewall, all versions of EN6200-PRIME QUAD-35 and EN6200-PRIME QUAD-100 between 19.1.1 to 22.20.1 (inclusive), due to insecure design in the Tacitine Firewall web-based management interface. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted http request on the targeted device. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to view sensitive information on the targeted device.

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2022-40629 lets an unauthenticated remote attacker read sensitive information from affected Tacitine Firewall web management interfaces. The business risk is confidentiality loss from security infrastructure, especially where management access is reachable from untrusted networks.

Executive priority

Treat this as a high-priority confidentiality risk for affected firewall appliances. Prioritize inventory and management-plane exposure reduction while confirming vendor remediation guidance.

Technical view

The issue is CWE-200 information disclosure caused by insecure design in the Tacitine Firewall web-based management interface. The CVSS 3.1 score is 7.5, with network access, low complexity, no privileges, no user interaction, and high confidentiality impact only.

Likely exposure

Exposure is most likely on Tacitine EN6200-PRIME QUAD-35 or EN6200-PRIME QUAD-100 appliances running versions 19.1.1 through 22.20.1, especially if the web management interface is reachable remotely.

Exploitation context

The sources describe exploitation through a specially crafted HTTP request from an unauthenticated remote attacker. The bundle does not show CISA KEV listing or other cited evidence of active exploitation.

Researcher notes

The provided affected-product metadata is limited and lacks CPEs. The narrative description gives the broader affected range, while the structured affected entry appears incomplete. No patch version is stated in the bundle.

Mitigation direction

  • Identify affected Tacitine Firewall models and software versions.
  • Check Tacitine and CERT-In guidance for fixed releases or vendor mitigations.
  • Restrict web management access to trusted administrative networks only.
  • Remove internet exposure for affected management interfaces where possible.
  • Review firewall management logs for suspicious unauthenticated access.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Tacitine firewall appliances by model and firmware version.
  • Confirm whether EN6200-PRIME QUAD-35 or QUAD-100 is present.
  • Verify web management interfaces are not publicly reachable.
  • Check whether versions fall between 19.1.1 and 22.20.1 inclusive.
  • Review logs for unexpected remote HTTP access attempts.
