CVE-2021-35582: Vulnerability in the Oracle Applications Manager product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: View Reports).

Vulnerability in the Oracle Applications Manager product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: View Reports). Supported versions that are affected are 12.1.3 and 12.2.3-12.2.10. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Applications Manager. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Applications Manager, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Applications Manager accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Applications Manager accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service (partial DOS) of Oracle Applications Manager. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 6.5 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2021-35582 affects Oracle Applications Manager in Oracle E-Business Suite. A low-privileged attacker with HTTP access could compromise the View Reports component if another person interacts with the attack. Impact includes limited data read/write changes and partial service disruption, with possible effects beyond the vulnerable component.

Executive priority

Treat this as a moderate-priority enterprise application risk. It is not described as unauthenticated or actively exploited, but it can affect data integrity, confidentiality, availability, and connected Oracle E-Business Suite operations.

Technical view

Oracle reports an easily exploitable, network-accessible vulnerability in Oracle Applications Manager View Reports. A low-privileged HTTP attacker needs user interaction. Affected supported versions are 12.1.3 and 12.2.3 through 12.2.10. CVSS 3.1 is 6.5 with scope changed and low confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts.

Likely exposure

Organizations running Oracle E-Business Suite with Oracle Applications Manager versions 12.1.3 or 12.2.3-12.2.10 may be exposed, especially where HTTP access is available to low-privileged users.

Exploitation context

The source bundle does not show CISA KEV listing or cited evidence of active exploitation. Exploitation requires network access over HTTP, low privileges, and human interaction from someone other than the attacker.

Researcher notes

Evidence is limited to the CVE record and Oracle CPU reference. No CWE, exploit details, or specific workaround text appears in the supplied bundle. Validate exposure by version, component presence, HTTP accessibility, and patch status.

Mitigation direction

  • Review Oracle October 2021 Critical Patch Update guidance for CVE-2021-35582.
  • Apply applicable Oracle E-Business Suite patches or vendor-supported updates.
  • Prioritize systems exposing Oracle Applications Manager over HTTP to broad user populations.
  • If patching is delayed, follow Oracle guidance for supported interim risk reduction.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle E-Business Suite deployments and Applications Manager versions.
  • Confirm whether versions 12.1.3 or 12.2.3-12.2.10 are present.
  • Check patch records against Oracle October 2021 CPU guidance.
  • Review access paths to Oracle Applications Manager over HTTP.
  • Monitor for unusual Applications Manager View Reports activity.
