Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

This flaw affects Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools Web Runtime 9.2.5.3 and earlier. An unauthenticated network attacker could abuse it over HTTP, but needs a separate user interaction. Successful compromise can expose some data and allow unauthorized changes to some accessible data, creating integrity risk in business workflows.

Executive priority

Treat as a moderate business-application risk. It is not reported as actively exploited, but it affects ERP tooling and can alter or disclose data. Prioritize remediation for internet-facing or broadly reachable JD Edwards environments.

Technical view

CVE-2021-2375 is a JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools Web Runtime vulnerability with CVSS 3.1 score 6.1. Vector: AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The issue is remotely reachable over HTTP without attacker privileges, requires user interaction, changes scope, and impacts confidentiality and integrity only.

Likely exposure

Organizations running Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools 9.2.5.3 or earlier are potentially exposed, especially where Web Runtime HTTP access is reachable by users or untrusted networks. The bundle does not identify affected CPEs or specific deployment configurations.

Exploitation context

The source bundle does not report known active exploitation, and KEV status is false. Exploitation is described as easy from the network over HTTP, but it requires human interaction from someone other than the attacker.

Researcher notes

Evidence is limited to the CVE description and Oracle CPU reference in the bundle. No CWE, exploit details, CPEs, or precise fixed build are provided. Scope change suggests possible impact beyond the vulnerable component, but affected additional products are not named.

Mitigation direction

  • Review Oracle July 2021 CPU and current JD Edwards patch guidance.
  • Update or remediate JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools versions 9.2.5.3 and earlier.
  • Restrict HTTP access to Web Runtime interfaces to trusted networks where possible.
  • Prioritize controls that reduce risky user interaction paths.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools deployments and record exact Tools versions.
  • Confirm whether any instance runs 9.2.5.3 or earlier.
  • Verify Oracle CPU or later vendor guidance has been applied.
  • Check whether Web Runtime HTTP endpoints are externally or broadly reachable.
