Analyst readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

This flaw lets a low-privileged user who can reach Oracle iSupplier Portal over HTTP read or change sensitive portal data. For organizations using Oracle E-Business Suite supplier workflows, the business risk is unauthorized access to critical supplier or account data, not system outage.

Executive priority

Prioritize remediation for any exposed or business-critical iSupplier Portal deployment because the flaw can compromise sensitive supplier data integrity and confidentiality. Treat it as high urgency where partner access is broad or internet-facing.

Technical view

CVE-2021-2364 affects Oracle iSupplier Portal in Oracle E-Business Suite, Accounts component, versions 12.1.1-12.1.3 and 12.2.3-12.2.10. It is network-exploitable over HTTP with low privileges and no user interaction. CVSS 3.1 is 8.1, with high confidentiality and integrity impact and no availability impact.

Likely exposure

Exposure is most likely where affected Oracle E-Business Suite iSupplier Portal versions are deployed and reachable by supplier, partner, or internal low-privileged accounts over HTTP. Internet-facing supplier portals increase business urgency, but the source bundle does not state exposure prevalence.

Exploitation context

The source bundle does not show CISA KEV listing or cited evidence of active exploitation. The vulnerability is described as easily exploitable, but exploitation requires low privileges and network access to the portal over HTTP.

Researcher notes

Key constraints are clear: affected Oracle iSupplier Portal Accounts versions, HTTP attack vector, low privileges, no user interaction, high confidentiality and integrity impact. The bundle does not provide CWE detail, proof-of-concept status, or standalone mitigation beyond Oracle CPU guidance.

Mitigation direction

  • Apply Oracle July 2021 Critical Patch Update guidance for affected E-Business Suite deployments.
  • Confirm whether later Oracle CPUs supersede the required remediation for your installed release.
  • Restrict iSupplier Portal HTTP access to trusted networks, VPNs, or approved partner paths.
  • Review low-privileged supplier and portal accounts for unnecessary access.
  • Monitor for unauthorized reads, creations, deletions, or modifications in portal data.

Validation and detection

  • Identify all Oracle E-Business Suite instances running iSupplier Portal.
  • Confirm installed versions against 12.1.1-12.1.3 and 12.2.3-12.2.10.
  • Verify applicable Oracle CPU patches are installed using vendor-supported methods.
  • Check whether iSupplier Portal is reachable from untrusted networks.
  • Review audit logs for unexpected Accounts component data access or changes.
