Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

This flaw affects Oracle E-Business Suite Concurrent Processing with BI Publisher Integration. A low-privileged user who can reach the service over HTTP could read or change critical application data. The main business risk is unauthorized access or manipulation of sensitive operational data, not service outage.

Executive priority

Treat this as high priority for Oracle E-Business Suite environments because it can expose or alter critical data through authenticated HTTP access. Prioritize systems supporting finance, HR, procurement, or other sensitive workflows.

Technical view

CVE-2021-2295 is a network-exploitable Oracle Concurrent Processing vulnerability in E-Business Suite versions 12.1.3 and 12.2.3 through 12.2.10. The CVSS 3.1 vector is AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N, indicating low attack complexity, required low privileges, no user interaction, and high confidentiality and integrity impact.

Likely exposure

Exposure is limited to organizations running the affected Oracle E-Business Suite versions and the BI Publisher Integration component, especially where authenticated low-privileged users can access the application over HTTP.

Exploitation context

The source bundle does not cite CISA KEV listing or active exploitation. The vulnerability is described as easily exploitable by a low-privileged attacker with HTTP network access, but public exploitation status is not established here.

Researcher notes

The available evidence gives strong product, version, vector, and impact detail, but no CWE, proof-of-concept status, exploit telemetry, or patch identifier. Avoid assuming internet-wide exploitation; validate exposure through asset inventory and Oracle patch records.

Mitigation direction

  • Review Oracle's April 2021 Critical Patch Update guidance for applicable E-Business Suite fixes.
  • Apply vendor-provided patches or supported upgrade paths after normal change validation.
  • Limit HTTP reachability to E-Business Suite services to authorized users and networks.
  • Review low-privileged accounts with access to affected E-Business Suite functions.
  • Monitor for unusual BI Publisher or Concurrent Processing data access changes.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle E-Business Suite instances and confirm exact deployed versions.
  • Check whether Concurrent Processing with BI Publisher Integration is present and reachable.
  • Verify whether versions are 12.1.3 or 12.2.3 through 12.2.10.
  • Confirm Oracle CPU remediation status in patch records or system inventory.
  • Review application logs for suspicious authenticated access to sensitive processing data.
