CVE-2021-2187: Vulnerability in the Oracle iStore product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Shopping Cart).

Vulnerability in the Oracle iStore product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Shopping Cart). Supported versions that are affected are 12.1.1-12.1.3 and 12.2.3-12.2.10. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle iStore. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle iStore, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle iStore accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle iStore accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 8.2 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2021-2187 affects Oracle iStore in Oracle E-Business Suite Shopping Cart. An unauthenticated attacker with HTTP access could compromise iStore if another person interacts with the attack. Successful exploitation could expose critical iStore data and allow some unauthorized data changes. The CVSS score is 8.2, making this a high-priority business risk for affected EBS deployments.

Executive priority

Treat as high priority if Oracle iStore is used. The risk is sensitive data exposure and unauthorized data changes, with possible impact beyond iStore. Prioritize internet-facing systems and confirm patch status.

Technical view

Affected versions are Oracle iStore 12.1.1 through 12.1.3 and 12.2.3 through 12.2.10. The CVSS vector is network, low complexity, no privileges required, user interaction required, changed scope, high confidentiality impact, low integrity impact, and no availability impact.

Likely exposure

Exposure is most likely where Oracle E-Business Suite iStore Shopping Cart is deployed and reachable over HTTP, especially internet-facing or broadly accessible internal portals running affected versions.

Exploitation context

The provided sources do not show CISA KEV listing or confirmed active exploitation. The vulnerability is described as easily exploitable over HTTP without authentication, but requiring human interaction from someone other than the attacker.

Researcher notes

The source data does not provide CWE, root-cause detail, exploit mechanics, or specific indicators. Avoid assuming exploit availability. Focus validation on affected-version confirmation, patch state, HTTP reachability, and whether user-interaction paths exist in deployed iStore workflows.

Mitigation direction

  • Confirm whether Oracle iStore is running an affected version.
  • Review Oracle April 2021 Critical Patch Update guidance for applicable fixes.
  • Apply relevant Oracle security updates through approved EBS maintenance procedures.
  • Restrict unnecessary HTTP access to iStore while remediation is planned.
  • Monitor vendor advisories for any later guidance or exploitation notes.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle E-Business Suite instances that include iStore.
  • Check iStore version against 12.1.1-12.1.3 and 12.2.3-12.2.10.
  • Verify whether the April 2021 Oracle CPU or successor patches are applied.
  • Review HTTP exposure for iStore Shopping Cart endpoints.
  • Check logs for suspicious unauthenticated iStore access patterns.
