CVE-2021-2185: Vulnerability in the Oracle iStore product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Shopping Cart).

Vulnerability in the Oracle iStore product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Shopping Cart). Supported versions that are affected are 12.1.1-12.1.3 and 12.2.3-12.2.10. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle iStore. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle iStore, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle iStore accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle iStore accessible data. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 8.2 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2021-2185 affects Oracle iStore in Oracle E-Business Suite. An unauthenticated attacker with HTTP network access could compromise sensitive iStore data and make limited unauthorized data changes if a separate user interaction occurs. This is a high business risk for organizations using affected iStore versions, especially where the service is reachable beyond trusted networks.

Executive priority

Treat this as a high-priority Oracle E-Business Suite exposure review. The main concern is unauthorized access to critical iStore data, with some data modification risk, through a network-reachable component that may support customer-facing workflows.

Technical view

Oracle iStore Shopping Cart versions 12.1.1-12.1.3 and 12.2.3-12.2.10 are affected. CVSS 3.1 is 8.2: network attack vector, low complexity, no privileges, user interaction required, changed scope, high confidentiality impact, low integrity impact, and no availability impact.

Likely exposure

Exposure is likely limited to Oracle E-Business Suite environments running the iStore component in affected versions. Risk rises when iStore is reachable over HTTP from untrusted networks or external users.

Exploitation context

The source bundle does not show CISA KEV listing or cited evidence of active exploitation. The vulnerability is described as easily exploitable, unauthenticated, and HTTP-reachable, but it requires human interaction by someone other than the attacker.

Researcher notes

No CWE is listed in the supplied record, and the source bundle does not provide root-cause detail. Analysis should stay focused on affected Oracle iStore versions, HTTP reachability, user-interaction dependency, and confirming Oracle CPU remediation status.

Mitigation direction

  • Identify whether Oracle iStore is deployed in affected E-Business Suite versions.
  • Review Oracle’s April 2021 Critical Patch Update for applicable vendor remediation.
  • Apply current Oracle-supported fixes or guidance for the affected E-Business Suite release.
  • Restrict iStore HTTP access to trusted networks where business requirements allow.
  • Monitor iStore activity for unusual unauthenticated access or unexpected data changes.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle E-Business Suite and iStore versions across production and non-production systems.
  • Confirm whether versions fall within 12.1.1-12.1.3 or 12.2.3-12.2.10.
  • Check patch records against Oracle’s April 2021 Critical Patch Update guidance.
  • Validate that externally reachable iStore endpoints are intended and appropriately controlled.
  • Review application logs for suspicious access patterns around iStore shopping cart workflows.
