CVE-2020-6879: Some ZTE devices have input verification vulnerabilities.

Some ZTE devices have input verification vulnerabilities. The devices support configuring a static prefix through the web management page. The restriction of the front-end code can be bypassed by constructing a POST request message and sending the request to the creation of a static routing rule configuration interface. The WEB service backend fails to effectively verify the abnormal input. As a result, the attacker can successfully use the vulnerability to tamper parameter values. This affects: ZXHN Z500 V1.0.0.2B1.1000 and ZXHN F670L V1.1.10P1N2E. This is fixed in ZXHN Z500 V1.0.1.1B1.1000 and ZXHN F670L V1.1.10P2N2.

Security readout for executives and security teams

Certain ZTE ZXHN Z500 and ZXHN F670L devices can accept invalid static route configuration input through their web management service. If reachable, an attacker may bypass browser-side restrictions and alter parameter values. The business concern is unauthorized network configuration change on affected devices, but the public bundle does not provide severity, CVSS, or exploitation details. Exposure is limited to environments running the affected ZTE device firmware versions, especially if the web management interface is reachable from untrusted networks. The sources do not state whether authentication is required, whether remote WAN access is typical, or whether default configurations expose the interface. Treat this as a targeted network-device hygiene issue. Prioritize remediation where affected ZTE devices manage production routing or expose web administration beyond trusted administrators. Urgency is harder to quantify because the public sources provide no CVSS score, no active exploitation evidence, and limited precondition details. Mitigation focus: Upgrade ZXHN Z500 to V1.0.1.1B1.1000 or later vendor-fixed firmware.; Upgrade ZXHN F670L to V1.1.10P2N2 or later vendor-fixed firmware.; Restrict web management access to trusted administrative networks only..
