CVE-2020-2920: Vulnerability in the Oracle Agile PLM product of Oracle Supply Chain (component: Security).

Vulnerability in the Oracle Agile PLM product of Oracle Supply Chain (component: Security). Supported versions that are affected are 9.3.3, 9.3.5 and 9.3.6. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Agile PLM. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Agile PLM, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Agile PLM accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Agile PLM accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 6.1 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2020-2920 affects Oracle Agile PLM and can let an unauthenticated network attacker alter or read some PLM data if another person interacts with the attack. The business concern is integrity of product lifecycle data, not system takeover or outage based on the supplied sources.

Executive priority

Treat as a near-term remediation item where Agile PLM stores sensitive product or supply-chain data. Escalate if externally reachable or broadly partner-accessible.

Technical view

Oracle describes an easily exploitable Agile PLM Security component flaw over HTTP affecting supported versions 9.3.3, 9.3.5, and 9.3.6. It requires user interaction, has changed scope, and can cause low confidentiality and integrity impact. CVSS 3.0 score is 6.1.

Likely exposure

Exposure is limited to Oracle Agile PLM Framework versions 9.3.3, 9.3.5, and 9.3.6, especially deployments reachable over HTTP by unauthenticated users.

Exploitation context

The provided bundle does not show CISA KEV listing or cited active exploitation. Oracle rates exploitation as easy, but successful attack requires human interaction from someone other than the attacker.

Researcher notes

No CWE is provided in the bundle, and Oracle's public summary does not include root-cause detail. Avoid assuming exploit mechanics beyond HTTP network access, no privileges, required user interaction, changed scope, and limited data impact.

Mitigation direction

  • Apply Oracle's April 2020 Critical Patch Update or later vendor guidance for affected Agile PLM versions.
  • Restrict HTTP access to Agile PLM from untrusted networks until remediation is confirmed.
  • Prioritize remediation for internet-facing or partner-accessible Agile PLM environments.
  • Warn users against interacting with unexpected Agile PLM links or prompts.
  • Monitor Agile PLM records for unauthorized reads, updates, inserts, or deletes.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle Agile PLM versions and identify any 9.3.3, 9.3.5, or 9.3.6 deployments.
  • Confirm whether Oracle's April 2020 CPU or later relevant updates are installed.
  • Review network exposure for unauthenticated HTTP access to Agile PLM.
  • Check access and change logs for suspicious PLM data reads or modifications.
