CVE-2020-2860: Vulnerability in the Oracle Marketing product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Marketing Administrati...

Vulnerability in the Oracle Marketing product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Marketing Administration). Supported versions that are affected are 12.1.1-12.1.3. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Marketing. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Marketing, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Marketing accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Marketing accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 8.2 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2020-2860 affects Oracle Marketing in Oracle E-Business Suite. An unauthenticated attacker with HTTP network access could compromise Oracle Marketing if a separate user interacts. The main business risk is exposure of critical marketing data and limited unauthorized data changes. Oracle rates it CVSS 8.2, high severity.

Executive priority

Treat as high priority for any affected Oracle E-Business Suite deployment, especially externally reachable systems. The risk is data exposure and some unauthorized data modification, with possible impact beyond Oracle Marketing due to changed scope.

Technical view

The vulnerability is in Oracle E-Business Suite Oracle Marketing, Marketing Administration component, versions 12.1.1 through 12.1.3. CVSS is 8.2: network attack vector, low complexity, no privileges, user interaction required, changed scope, high confidentiality impact, low integrity impact, no availability impact.

Likely exposure

Exposure is likely limited to organizations running Oracle E-Business Suite with Oracle Marketing versions 12.1.1, 12.1.2, or 12.1.3 reachable over HTTP. Internet-facing or broadly reachable EBS environments carry greater practical risk.

Exploitation context

The source describes the issue as easily exploitable over HTTP by an unauthenticated attacker, but requiring human interaction. The provided bundle does not show CISA KEV listing or evidence of active exploitation. No exploit maturity details are provided.

Researcher notes

Key constraints are no privileges required and HTTP network access, balanced by required user interaction and no availability impact. The sources do not provide CWE, exploit status, or detailed remediation steps beyond Oracle’s CPU reference.

Mitigation direction

  • Confirm whether Oracle Marketing 12.1.1-12.1.3 is deployed.
  • Review Oracle’s April 2020 Critical Patch Update guidance.
  • Apply Oracle-supported fixes or upgrade guidance for affected E-Business Suite systems.
  • Restrict HTTP access to affected Oracle Marketing interfaces where feasible.
  • Monitor Oracle Marketing for unusual data access or unauthorized changes.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle E-Business Suite modules and exact versions.
  • Verify whether Oracle Marketing is enabled and network reachable over HTTP.
  • Check patch records against Oracle April 2020 CPU guidance.
  • Review access logs for unexpected unauthenticated or suspicious HTTP activity.
  • Validate business-critical marketing data for unauthorized reads or changes.
