CVE-2020-2845: Vulnerability in the Oracle Depot Repair product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Estimate and Actual...

Vulnerability in the Oracle Depot Repair product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Estimate and Actual Charges). Supported versions that are affected are 12.1.1-12.1.3. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Depot Repair. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Depot Repair, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Depot Repair accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Depot Repair accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 8.2 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2020-2845 affects Oracle E-Business Suite Depot Repair. An unauthenticated network attacker could use HTTP and rely on user interaction to access sensitive Depot Repair data and modify some data. The reported impact can extend beyond the vulnerable product, so exposed or business-critical EBS deployments should be treated as urgent.

Executive priority

Prioritize remediation for affected EBS Depot Repair systems because the vulnerability can expose critical data without attacker credentials and permit some unauthorized data changes. Require confirmation of version, exposure, and Oracle CPU remediation status.

Technical view

Oracle describes a high-severity vulnerability in Depot Repair, component Estimate and Actual Charges, affecting versions 12.1.1 through 12.1.3. CVSS 3.0 is 8.2: network exploitable, low complexity, no privileges, user interaction required, changed scope, high confidentiality, low integrity, no availability impact.

Likely exposure

Organizations running Oracle E-Business Suite with Depot Repair versions 12.1.1, 12.1.2, or 12.1.3 are the known exposed population. Risk is higher where EBS HTTP interfaces are reachable by untrusted networks or external users.

Exploitation context

The provided sources do not show CISA KEV inclusion or confirmed active exploitation. Oracle says exploitation is easy, unauthenticated over HTTP, and requires interaction from a person other than the attacker. No public exploit details are included in the source bundle.

Researcher notes

Public details are limited. No CWE, endpoint, root cause, or exploit procedure is provided in the bundle. The key research focus is asset confirmation, version validation, HTTP exposure, and whether Oracle April 2020 CPU remediation was applied.

Mitigation direction

  • Review Oracle April 2020 CPU guidance for CVE-2020-2845.
  • Apply Oracle-supported updates or mitigations for affected EBS Depot Repair deployments.
  • Limit untrusted HTTP access to EBS while remediation is pending.
  • Prioritize externally reachable and business-critical EBS instances first.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle E-Business Suite instances and enabled Depot Repair modules.
  • Confirm whether Depot Repair is version 12.1.1, 12.1.2, or 12.1.3.
  • Check patch or mitigation status against Oracle April 2020 CPU guidance.
  • Review HTTP exposure paths for affected EBS applications.
  • Review relevant HTTP and application logs for unusual access patterns.
