CVE-2020-2819: Vulnerability in the Oracle Universal Work Queue product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Work Provid...

Vulnerability in the Oracle Universal Work Queue product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Work Provider Administration). Supported versions that are affected are 12.1.1-12.1.3. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Universal Work Queue. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Universal Work Queue, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Universal Work Queue accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Universal Work Queue accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 8.2 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

This affects Oracle E-Business Suite's Universal Work Queue. An unauthenticated network attacker could use an HTTP-accessible weakness, with another user's interaction, to access critical data and alter some accessible data. The business risk is data exposure and integrity compromise in affected E-Business Suite environments.

Executive priority

Treat as high priority where affected Oracle E-Business Suite systems are network reachable. The main concern is unauthorized access to critical business data, with some risk of unauthorized data changes.

Technical view

CVE-2020-2819 affects Oracle Universal Work Queue, Work Provider Administration, in Oracle E-Business Suite versions 12.1.1 through 12.1.3. CVSS 8.2 reflects network access, low attack complexity, no privileges, required user interaction, changed scope, high confidentiality impact, low integrity impact, and no availability impact.

Likely exposure

Organizations running Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.1-12.1.3 with Universal Work Queue reachable over HTTP are the primary exposure group. Internet-facing or broadly accessible intranet deployments are higher concern.

Exploitation context

The source data says the flaw is easily exploitable over HTTP without attacker authentication, but requires human interaction. KEV is false, and the provided sources do not confirm active exploitation.

Researcher notes

Evidence is limited to the CVE record and Oracle CPU reference. No CWE, proof-of-concept status, or detailed root cause is provided in the bundle. Do not assume affected versions beyond 12.1.1-12.1.3.

Mitigation direction

  • Review Oracle's April 2020 Critical Patch Update guidance for this CVE.
  • Apply the applicable Oracle-supported update or mitigation through normal change control.
  • Restrict HTTP access to affected E-Business Suite components where possible.
  • Prioritize systems exposing Universal Work Queue to untrusted networks.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle E-Business Suite instances and Universal Work Queue usage.
  • Identify any deployments running versions 12.1.1, 12.1.2, or 12.1.3.
  • Confirm whether affected components are reachable over HTTP.
  • Check patch records against Oracle's April 2020 CPU guidance.
  • Validate compensating access controls for externally reachable systems.
