CVE-2020-2815: Vulnerability in the Oracle iSupport product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Profile).

Vulnerability in the Oracle iSupport product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Profile). Supported versions that are affected are 12.1.1-12.1.3. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle iSupport. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle iSupport, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle iSupport accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle iSupport accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 8.2 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

Oracle iSupport in Oracle E-Business Suite versions 12.1.1 through 12.1.3 has a high-severity issue. An unauthenticated network attacker can target it over HTTP, but successful abuse requires interaction from another person. Impact is mainly sensitive data exposure, with some unauthorized data modification possible.

Executive priority

Treat this as a high-priority Oracle E-Business Suite exposure if iSupport is deployed. The main business risk is unauthorized access to critical data, with some integrity risk, and exploitation does not require attacker authentication.

Technical view

CVE-2020-2815 affects Oracle iSupport, Profile component, in E-Business Suite 12.1.1-12.1.3. CVSS 3.0 score is 8.2: AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N. The scope change indicates impact may extend beyond Oracle iSupport to additional products.

Likely exposure

Exposure is likely where Oracle E-Business Suite includes iSupport 12.1.1-12.1.3 and the application is reachable over HTTP. The source bundle does not identify other affected versions or products.

Exploitation context

The bundle does not show CISA KEV listing or other cited evidence of active exploitation. The vulnerability is described as easily exploitable by an unauthenticated network attacker, but it requires human interaction from someone other than the attacker.

Researcher notes

No CWE is provided in the bundle. No exploit code, public exploitation evidence, or detailed patch identifier is included. Validation should focus on affected version presence, HTTP reachability, and whether Oracle CPU guidance has been applied.

Mitigation direction

  • Check Oracle April 2020 CPU guidance for CVE-2020-2815 remediation.
  • Apply the vendor-specified update or supported remediation for affected iSupport versions.
  • Reduce unnecessary HTTP exposure to Oracle iSupport while remediation is pending.
  • Prioritize systems containing sensitive customer, support, or account profile data.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory Oracle E-Business Suite deployments for iSupport usage.
  • Confirm whether iSupport versions are 12.1.1, 12.1.2, or 12.1.3.
  • Verify remediation status against Oracle April 2020 CPU guidance.
  • Review access paths to determine whether iSupport is reachable over HTTP.
  • Check monitoring for unusual profile access or data modification activity.
