CVE-2020-2811: Vulnerability in the Oracle WebLogic Server product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: Console).

Vulnerability in the Oracle WebLogic Server product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: Console). Supported versions that are affected are 10.3.6.0.0, 12.1.3.0.0, 12.2.1.3.0 and 12.2.1.4.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle WebLogic Server. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle WebLogic Server, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle WebLogic Server accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle WebLogic Server accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 6.1 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2020-2811 affects the Oracle WebLogic Server Console. An unauthenticated attacker reachable over HTTP could compromise WebLogic data confidentiality and integrity, but the attack requires interaction from another person. The recorded impact is partial data read and unauthorized update, insert, or delete access, not availability loss.

Executive priority

Treat this as a moderate-priority WebLogic hardening and patch verification item. Prioritize internet-exposed or broadly reachable consoles because the flaw needs no attacker credentials and can affect data integrity.

Technical view

Affected WebLogic Server versions are 10.3.6.0.0, 12.1.3.0.0, 12.2.1.3.0, and 12.2.1.4.0. CVSS 3.0 is 6.1: AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The component is Console, with HTTP network access and user interaction required.

Likely exposure

Exposure is most likely where affected WebLogic Console interfaces are reachable over HTTP from user networks, partners, VPN users, or the internet. Systems not running the listed versions are not identified as affected in the provided sources.

Exploitation context

The provided sources do not show CISA KEV listing or active exploitation. The issue is described as easily exploitable, unauthenticated, and network reachable, but requiring human interaction by someone other than the attacker.

Researcher notes

The source bundle does not name a CWE or provide exploit details. Validation should focus on version exposure, Console reachability, patch state, and evidence of suspicious Console-driven data access or modification.

Mitigation direction

  • Review Oracle's April 2020 CPU guidance for CVE-2020-2811.
  • Apply vendor-provided WebLogic Server fixes for affected versions.
  • Restrict WebLogic Console HTTP access to trusted administrative networks.
  • Confirm unsupported or affected WebLogic versions are upgraded or retired.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory WebLogic Server versions across production and non-production environments.
  • Check whether WebLogic Console is reachable over HTTP from untrusted networks.
  • Compare installed patch levels against Oracle April 2020 CPU guidance.
  • Review logs for suspicious Console activity around user interaction events.
