CVE-2020-2744: Vulnerability in the Oracle Transportation Management product of Oracle Supply Chain (component: Security).

Vulnerability in the Oracle Transportation Management product of Oracle Supply Chain (component: Security). Supported versions that are affected are 6.3.7, 6.4.2 and 6.4.3. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Transportation Management. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Transportation Management, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Transportation Management accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle Transportation Management accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 5.4 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Plain-English summary

CVE-2020-2744 is a medium-severity Oracle Transportation Management issue. A low-privileged user who can reach the application over HTTP could, with another person’s interaction, read some data and modify some data. The main business risk is unauthorized changes or disclosure in transportation management workflows.

Executive priority

Treat as a scheduled remediation item unless the affected OTM system is internet-facing, broadly accessible, or supports sensitive logistics operations. Prioritize patch validation and access restriction because integrity impact can affect operational data quality.

Technical view

The flaw affects Oracle Transportation Management Security component versions 6.3.7, 6.4.2, and 6.4.3. It is network exploitable over HTTP with low privileges and required user interaction. Oracle rates it CVSS 5.4, with low confidentiality and integrity impact, no availability impact, and changed scope.

Likely exposure

Organizations running Oracle Transportation Management 6.3.7, 6.4.2, or 6.4.3 are potentially exposed, especially where authenticated low-privilege users can access OTM over HTTP. The bundle does not identify exposure for other Oracle products beyond possible downstream impact.

Exploitation context

The source bundle does not show active exploitation, and KEV status is false. Exploitation is described as easy, but it requires low privileges, HTTP network access, and human interaction from someone other than the attacker.

Researcher notes

No CWE is provided in the bundle. The public description identifies the vulnerable component as Security but does not describe the weakness class, affected endpoint, proof of concept, or exact patch level. Avoid assuming exploit mechanics beyond Oracle’s CVSS vector and impact statement.

Mitigation direction

  • Check Oracle April 2020 CPU guidance for applicable OTM fixes.
  • Upgrade or patch affected OTM versions per Oracle guidance.
  • Limit OTM HTTP access to trusted networks and users.
  • Review low-privilege roles for unnecessary data access.
  • Monitor for unexpected OTM data changes or reads.

Validation and detection

  • Inventory OTM instances and record exact versions.
  • Confirm whether versions 6.3.7, 6.4.2, or 6.4.3 are present.
  • Verify OTM HTTP access paths and authentication requirements.
  • Review Oracle advisory applicability for deployed builds.
  • Check logs for unusual low-privilege data changes.
