Older Kibana installations can let an attacker use the Timelion visualizer to run code on the server. Successful exploitation could give the attacker the same permissions as the Kibana process, creating serious risk to data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Exposure is most likely where Kibana 5.x or 6.x is still deployed, especially if Timelion is reachable by untrusted users or the internet.
