Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2018-3236 affects Oracle E-Business Suite User Management Reports. A high-privileged user with HTTP network access could compromise user management data, including reading critical data or creating, deleting, and modifying records. The issue is serious for exposed or broadly accessible EBS environments, but it requires high privileges. Exposure is limited to organizations running affected Oracle E-Business Suite versions with the User Management Reports component reachable over HTTP. Risk increases where privileged EBS accounts are numerous, poorly governed, or where HTTP access is available beyond tightly controlled administrative networks. Treat this as a medium-priority remediation unless EBS user management is internet-exposed or privileged account controls are weak. The business risk is unauthorized access to or modification of critical user-management data, which can support broader access misuse. Mitigation focus: Review Oracle's October 2018 Critical Patch Update guidance for applicable E-Business Suite fixes.; Upgrade or patch affected EBS versions according to Oracle-supported remediation guidance.; Restrict HTTP access to E-Business Suite administrative and user management functions..
