Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2018-2888 affects Oracle MICROS Retail-J Back Office versions used in retail operations. Exploitation is difficult because it requires physical access, high privileges, and user interaction, but a successful attack could expose or alter critical Retail-J data and partially disrupt service. Exposure is most relevant to organizations still running affected Oracle MICROS Retail-J Back Office versions, especially retail sites where physically accessible systems or terminals remain in service. Treat this as a targeted retail-operations risk, not an internet-scale emergency. Remediate confirmed affected systems because the business impact could include data compromise, unauthorized data changes, and partial service disruption. Mitigation focus: Identify all Oracle MICROS Retail-J Back Office deployments and versions.; Review Oracle's July 2018 CPU guidance for applicable fixes or mitigations.; Prioritize remediation for systems in stores or physically accessible locations..
