Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2018-2774 affects Oracle PeopleSoft PeopleTools SQR in supported versions 8.54, 8.55, and 8.56. An unauthenticated attacker with HTTP network access could compromise part of the application’s data and cause partial service disruption. The business concern is externally or broadly reachable PeopleSoft systems handling sensitive HR, finance, or operational data. Exposure is most likely where affected PeopleTools 8.54, 8.55, or 8.56 instances are reachable over HTTP by unauthenticated users. Internet-facing PeopleSoft portals, VPN-accessible deployments, or permissive internal network paths increase practical risk. Treat this as a high-priority legacy enterprise application risk. The vulnerability can affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability without credentials, but urgency should be highest for reachable PeopleSoft systems that process sensitive business data. Mitigation focus: Identify PeopleTools instances running versions 8.54, 8.55, or 8.56.; Review Oracle April 2018 CPU guidance for the vendor-supported fix.; Prioritize remediation for internet-facing or partner-accessible PeopleSoft endpoints..
