A vulnerability in Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning (PCP) could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to access the Java Remote Method Invocation (RMI) system. The vulnerability is due to an open port in the Network Interface and Configuration Engine (NICE) service. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by accessing the open RMI system on an affected PCP instance. An exploit could allow the attacker to perform malicious actions that affect PCP and the devices that are connected to it. This vulnerability affects Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning (PCP) Releases 11.6 and prior. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvd61746.

Security readout for executives and security teams

Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning 11.6 and prior can expose a Java RMI service without proper authentication. A remote attacker who can reach the affected service could take malicious actions against the provisioning platform and devices connected to it. Exposure is most likely where Cisco Prime Collaboration Provisioning 11.6 or earlier is reachable from untrusted networks. Internet-facing or broadly reachable management networks raise urgency. Prioritize remediation for any reachable Cisco PCP 11.6 or prior instance, especially in production voice or collaboration environments. Risk is elevated because PCP can influence connected devices. Mitigation focus: Identify all Cisco PCP deployments and versions.; Treat PCP 11.6 and prior as potentially affected.; Review Cisco’s advisory for supported fixes or workarounds..
