A vulnerability in Cisco WebEx Meetings Server could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to access the remote support account even after it has been disabled via the web application. The vulnerability is due to a design flaw in Cisco WebEx Meetings Server, which would not disable access to specifically configured user accounts, even after access had been disabled in the web application. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by connecting to the remote support account, even after it had been disabled at the web application level. An exploit could allow the attacker to modify server configuration and gain access to customer data. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvg46741.

Security readout for executives and security teams

Cisco WebEx Meetings Server could let an authenticated remote attacker use a remote support account even after it was disabled in the web application. If abused, the attacker could change server configuration and access customer data. The provided sources do not include CVSS, fixed-version details, or evidence of active exploitation. Organizations running Cisco WebEx Meetings Server with remote support account functionality are the likely exposure group. Internet or broad network reachability to administrative or support interfaces would increase business risk. Prioritize this for environments hosting customer meetings or sensitive data. The main business concern is unauthorized configuration change and customer data exposure, but urgency depends on whether Cisco WebEx Meetings Server is deployed and reachable. Mitigation focus: Review Cisco advisory cisco-sa-20180117-wms2 for affected and fixed releases.; Apply Cisco-supported updates or workarounds when confirmed for your deployment.; Restrict administrative and support account access to trusted networks only..
