Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2018-0104 is a Cisco WebEx recording-player flaw. A malicious ARF recording file could let an attacker run code on a user’s computer if the user is convinced to open it. Business risk is highest where staff still open legacy WebEx ARF recordings or use affected WebEx player components. Exposure is likely on endpoints or environments using Cisco WebEx Business Suite meeting sites, WebEx Meetings sites, WebEx Meetings Server, or Cisco WebEx ARF players. Evidence in the bundle does not identify exact affected versions or fixed versions. Treat this as a high-priority legacy endpoint exposure if WebEx ARF files remain in use. The main business concern is code execution after user interaction, especially through emailed recordings. If ARF use has been retired, priority drops to confirming removal. Mitigation focus: Inventory WebEx ARF player and WebEx Meetings Server usage.; Check Cisco advisory cisco-sa-20180103-warfp for fixed versions and vendor guidance.; Remove obsolete ARF player software where no business need remains..
