CVE-2017-8328: An issue was discovered on Securifi Almond, Almond+, and Almond 2015 devices with firmware AL-R096.

An issue was discovered on Securifi Almond, Almond+, and Almond 2015 devices with firmware AL-R096. The device provides a user with the capability of changing the administrative password for the web management interface. It seems that the device does not implement any cross site request forgery protection mechanism which allows an attacker to trick a user who is logged in to the web management interface to change a user's password. Also this is a systemic issue.

Security readout for executives and security teams

This CVE affects Securifi Almond-family devices on firmware AL-R096. A logged-in administrator could be tricked into visiting a malicious page that changes the device’s web management password without consent. The business risk is loss of router administration control, but supplied sources do not show active exploitation or a confirmed vendor fix. Exposure is likely limited to organizations or users running Securifi Almond, Almond+, or Almond 2015 devices with firmware AL-R096, especially where administrators use the web management UI from general-purpose browsing sessions. Treat this as a targeted IoT administration-control risk, not a confirmed mass-exploitation event. Prioritize identifying affected devices and reducing management-interface exposure. Mitigation focus: Check Securifi guidance for firmware newer than AL-R096 or device-specific advisories.; Restrict web management access to trusted local administration networks.; Avoid browsing unrelated sites while authenticated to the management interface..
