Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2017-8207 affects older Huawei Honor 5C and Honor 6x smartphone software. A malicious Android app with root privileges could abuse a driver flaw to crash the phone or potentially run code. The main business concern is unmanaged, outdated, or rooted devices still used for work. Exposure is likely limited to Huawei Honor 5C and Honor 6x devices running the named older builds, especially rooted devices or devices allowing untrusted apps. Treat this as a targeted mobile fleet hygiene issue, not a broad enterprise emergency. Prioritize if legacy Huawei devices access email, VPN, or sensitive applications. Mitigation focus: Identify Honor 5C and Honor 6x devices in use.; Update affected devices to vendor-fixed builds or later where available.; Remove or retire unsupported affected devices from business use..
