A mechanism where when a new tab is loaded through JavaScript events, if fullscreen mode is then entered, the addressbar will not be rendered. This would allow a malicious site to displayed a spoofed addressbar, showing the location of an arbitrary website instead of the one loaded. Note: this issue only affects Firefox for Android. Desktop Firefox is unaffected. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 54.

Security readout for executives and security teams

This is a phishing and trust-spoofing issue in old Firefox for Android. A malicious site could hide the real browser address bar after opening a tab and entering fullscreen, then display a fake address bar for a trusted site. The sources do not describe code execution or direct data theft. Exposure is limited to users or managed Android devices still running Firefox for Android versions earlier than 54. Modern, automatically updated Firefox Android installations are unlikely to remain affected, but legacy Android fleets or unmanaged devices should be checked. Treat this as a targeted mobile phishing risk, not an infrastructure emergency. Priority is moderate if legacy Android browsers exist in the environment and low if Firefox for Android is centrally updated or absent. Mitigation focus: Upgrade Firefox for Android to version 54 or later.; Confirm Android device management policies enforce browser updates.; Remove or restrict unsupported Firefox for Android builds..
