Security readout for executives and security teams

This Oracle E-Business Suite flaw lets an already highly privileged infrastructure user compromise the Applications DBA patching component. A successful attack could read or change critical data accessible to Applications DBA. It is not an internet-wide unauthenticated issue, but it matters in environments where EBS administrative access is broad or weakly monitored. Exposure is limited to Oracle E-Business Suite deployments running the listed affected versions and using the Applications DBA component. Risk depends heavily on who has privileged infrastructure logon access and whether those sessions are controlled, patched, and audited. Treat this as a moderate-priority EBS administrative control issue. It is not described as remotely exploitable by anonymous attackers, but compromise by a privileged insider or already-established administrator could affect critical business data. Mitigation focus: Review Oracle's January 2017 Critical Patch Update guidance for this CVE.; Apply the relevant Oracle E-Business Suite patches or vendor-supported updates.; Restrict privileged logon access where Applications DBA executes..
