Vulnerability in the Oracle GlassFish Server component of Oracle Fusion Middleware (subcomponent: Administration). Supported versions that are affected are 3.0.1 and 3.1.2. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle GlassFish Server. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle GlassFish Server accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle GlassFish Server accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service (partial DOS) of Oracle GlassFish Server. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 7.3 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L).

Security readout for executives and security teams

This flaw lets an unauthenticated network attacker reach vulnerable Oracle GlassFish Server administration functionality over HTTP. Successful compromise can expose some server-accessible data, alter some data, and cause partial service disruption. The affected versions named in the source bundle are GlassFish Server 3.0.1 and 3.1.2. Exposure is most likely where Oracle GlassFish Server 3.0.1 or 3.1.2 is still deployed and administration-related HTTP access is reachable from untrusted networks or broad internal networks. Prioritize remediation for any reachable legacy GlassFish deployment, especially internet-facing or broadly accessible internal systems. The vulnerability is old, unauthenticated, network reachable, and affects administration functionality, making unmanaged exposure a business risk even without confirmed active exploitation in the provided sources. Mitigation focus: Identify and retire or update GlassFish Server 3.0.1 and 3.1.2 instances.; Review Oracle CPU October 2017 guidance for the vendor-supported fix path.; Restrict administration HTTP access to trusted management networks only..
