Security readout for executives and security teams

This issue affects Oracle Hospitality Simphony 2.8 and 2.9. An unauthenticated attacker who can reach the system over HTTP may cause limited unauthorized reading or modification of Simphony data, but the attack requires a separate person to interact with something. Exposure is most likely where Oracle Hospitality Simphony versions 2.8 or 2.9 are still deployed and reachable over HTTP by untrusted or semi-trusted networks. Systems not running those versions are not identified as affected in the provided sources. Treat this as a moderate remediation item for hospitality environments still running legacy Simphony versions. It can affect business data integrity and confidentiality, but the cited evidence does not show availability impact or confirmed active exploitation. Mitigation focus: Inventory Oracle Hospitality Simphony deployments and confirm whether versions 2.8 or 2.9 are present.; Review Oracle's October 2017 Critical Patch Update and current Oracle support guidance for applicable fixes.; Limit HTTP access to Simphony interfaces to trusted networks and users where operationally possible..
