CVE-2017-10278: Vulnerability in the Oracle Tuxedo component of Oracle Fusion Middleware (subcomponent: Security).

Vulnerability in the Oracle Tuxedo component of Oracle Fusion Middleware (subcomponent: Security). Supported versions that are affected are 11.1.1, 12.1.1, 12.1.3 and 12.2.2. Difficult to exploit vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via Jolt to compromise Oracle Tuxedo. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Tuxedo accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Tuxedo accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service (partial DOS) of Oracle Tuxedo. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 7.0 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:L).

Security readout for executives and security teams

Oracle Tuxedo servers using affected versions can be compromised through network access to Jolt without authentication. The issue is described as difficult to exploit, but a successful attack could expose critical data, modify some data, and partially disrupt service. Exposure is most likely where Oracle Tuxedo Jolt is reachable over a network on affected supported versions. Internet exposure would increase urgency, but the source bundle does not state typical deployment scope or affected configurations beyond Jolt access. Treat as a high-priority exposure review for environments running Oracle Tuxedo. The lack of confirmed active exploitation lowers emergency pressure, but unauthenticated network reachability and critical data impact justify prompt validation and vendor-guided remediation. Mitigation focus: Check Oracle advisory guidance for the affected Tuxedo version.; Apply vendor-supported patches or updates where Oracle identifies them.; Restrict Jolt access to trusted networks and required clients only..
