Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2017-10159 affects Oracle Communications Policy Management 11.5 and 12.x. An unauthenticated attacker who can reach the service over HTTP could trigger an attack if a separate user interacts with malicious content. Impact is limited data read and data modification, with no availability impact stated. Exposure is most likely where Oracle Communications Policy Management 11.5 or 12.x Portal/CMP is reachable over HTTP by users or networks that an attacker can influence. Internet-facing or broadly reachable administrative portals carry higher urgency. Treat this as a medium-priority remediation item, escalated to high if the affected portal is externally reachable or supports sensitive operational data. It can alter or read some accessible data but has no stated availability impact. Mitigation focus: Inventory Oracle Communications Policy Management deployments and identify versions 11.5 and 12.x.; Review Oracle's October 2017 Critical Patch Update for applicable vendor remediation.; Restrict HTTP reachability to trusted administrative networks where feasible..
