Vulnerability in the BI Publisher component of Oracle Fusion Middleware (subcomponent: Mobile Service). The supported version that is affected is 11.1.1.7.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise BI Publisher. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in BI Publisher, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all BI Publisher accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of BI Publisher accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 7.6 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2017-10059 affects Oracle BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.0 Mobile Service. A low-privileged network attacker could use HTTP-based access and required user interaction to gain critical BI Publisher data access and limited data modification rights. The business concern is exposure of sensitive reporting data and potential integrity impact across connected products. Exposure is most likely where Oracle BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.0 is reachable over HTTP by authenticated low-privileged users. Internet-facing or broadly accessible deployments increase practical risk. Treat this as a high-priority legacy Oracle middleware risk if BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.0 remains deployed. Prioritize confirming patch status and limiting HTTP exposure because the impact includes critical data disclosure. Mitigation focus: Apply Oracle's July 2017 Critical Patch Update guidance for BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.0.; Restrict BI Publisher HTTP access to trusted networks until vendor remediation is confirmed.; Review low-privilege account access to BI Publisher and remove unnecessary permissions..
