CVE-2017-10048: Vulnerability in the Oracle Enterprise Repository component of Oracle Fusion Middleware (subcomponent: Web...

Vulnerability in the Oracle Enterprise Repository component of Oracle Fusion Middleware (subcomponent: Web Interface). Supported versions that are affected are 11.1.1.7.0 and 12.1.3.0.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Enterprise Repository. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle Enterprise Repository, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Enterprise Repository accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Enterprise Repository accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 8.2 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:N).

Security readout for executives and security teams

This flaw affects Oracle Enterprise Repository in Oracle Fusion Middleware. An unauthenticated attacker reachable over HTTP could compromise repository data if a separate user interaction occurs. The main business risk is exposure or tampering of sensitive repository information, with possible impact beyond the repository because the vulnerability has changed scope. Exposure is limited to organizations running Oracle Enterprise Repository 11.1.1.7.0 or 12.1.3.0.0 with the web interface reachable over HTTP. Internet-facing deployments, partner-accessible portals, or broadly reachable internal middleware networks carry higher practical risk. Treat as a high-priority middleware remediation if Oracle Enterprise Repository is present. The vulnerability can expose critical repository data and allow some data changes without attacker authentication, although successful exploitation requires user interaction. Mitigation focus: Review Oracle's July 2017 Critical Patch Update for Oracle Enterprise Repository guidance.; Patch or upgrade affected Oracle Enterprise Repository versions according to Oracle-supported remediation.; Restrict HTTP access to trusted networks while patch status is confirmed..
