CVE-2016-8784: Huawei CloudEngine 12800 V100R003C00, V100R003C10, V100R005C00, V100R005C10, V100R006C00 have a memory leak...

Huawei CloudEngine 12800 V100R003C00, V100R003C10, V100R005C00, V100R005C10, V100R006C00 have a memory leak vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker may send specific Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) packets to the devices. When the values of some parameters in the packet are abnormal, the LDP processing module does not release the memory to handle the packet, resulting in memory leak.

Security readout for executives and security teams

This flaw affects specific Huawei CloudEngine 12800 switch software releases. An unauthenticated attacker who can send abnormal LDP packets to the device may trigger unreleased memory, potentially degrading switch stability over time. Business urgency depends on whether affected switches run LDP and are reachable by untrusted or broad internal networks. Exposure is limited to Huawei CloudEngine 12800 devices on the listed software versions where LDP packet handling is reachable. Risk rises if LDP is enabled on production switching paths or reachable from networks beyond trusted routing peers. Prioritize review for core or data-center switches because stability loss can disrupt business services. If no affected CloudEngine 12800 devices or LDP exposure exist, urgency is lower. The available evidence does not support claims of active exploitation. Mitigation focus: Review Huawei PSIRT advisory for vendor-approved remediation for the listed releases.; Restrict LDP packet reachability to trusted routing peers only.; Disable LDP where it is not operationally required..
