Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2016-6607 is a set of cross-site scripting flaws in phpMyAdmin. A malicious value or setting could cause script execution when an administrator uses affected phpMyAdmin features. The business risk is compromise of administrator browser sessions or actions inside a sensitive database management console. Exposure is likely where legacy phpMyAdmin versions remain deployed, especially if the console is reachable by many users or from the internet. The issue appears tied to phpMyAdmin administrative workflows and crafted database content or configuration, not a generic unauthenticated server takeover based on the provided sources. Treat this as a legacy administrative-tool risk. It is not KEV-listed in the provided bundle, but phpMyAdmin often has privileged database access, so outdated reachable instances should be found and upgraded in normal vulnerability remediation cycles. Mitigation focus: Upgrade phpMyAdmin to 4.6.4, 4.4.15.8, 4.0.10.17, or later supported releases.; Use distribution security updates where phpMyAdmin is managed by the operating system.; Restrict phpMyAdmin access to trusted administrators and internal networks while upgrading..
