More Information: CSCva13456. Known Affected Releases: 10.0.0-082 10.0.0-125 9.7.1-066. Known Fixed Releases: 10.0.0-203 9.7.2-131.

Security readout for executives and security teams

This flaw could let remote unauthenticated email traffic bypass Cisco Email Security Appliance AMP attachment filtering. The business risk is that malware-bearing attachments may pass a control leadership expects to stop them. Exposure depends on running affected AsyncOS releases and having AMP configured to scan incoming attachments. Likely exposed systems are Cisco Email Security Appliances running affected AsyncOS 9.7.1 or 10.0 releases with AMP enabled for incoming attachment scanning. Treat as high priority where Cisco ESA is a primary malware-control layer for inbound email. It may not be broadly exploitable everywhere, but exposed deployments could silently lose expected attachment protection. Mitigation focus: Upgrade affected ESA systems to Cisco fixed releases 10.0.0-203 or 9.7.2-131.; Review Cisco advisory guidance and bug CSCva13456 for deployment-specific instructions.; Prioritize internet-facing or mail-perimeter ESA appliances processing inbound attachments..
