Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2016-4975 affects Apache HTTP Server deployments using mod_userdir. A CRLF injection issue could let attackers influence outbound HTTP headers and enable response-splitting attacks. Business risk is mainly for legacy Apache 2.2 or early 2.4 systems that still expose this module. Exposure is most likely on internet-facing or internal web servers running affected Apache HTTP Server versions with mod_userdir enabled. Modern patched Apache 2.4 releases are not described as affected in the supplied sources. Treat this as a legacy web-server hygiene issue with moderate urgency. It is not listed as known exploited in the supplied data, but affected Apache instances can support response-splitting behavior and should be upgraded or validated through vendor guidance. Mitigation focus: Upgrade Apache HTTP Server to 2.4.25 or later where possible.; For Apache 2.2 legacy systems, verify 2.2.32 or vendor backport coverage.; Check Apache, NetApp, and HPE advisories for product-specific guidance..
