CVE-2011-2726: An access bypass issue was found in Drupal 7.x before version 7.5.

An access bypass issue was found in Drupal 7.x before version 7.5. If a Drupal site has the ability to attach File upload fields to any entity type in the system or has the ability to point individual File upload fields to the private file directory in comments, and the parent node is denied access, non-privileged users can still download the file attached to the comment if they know or guess its direct URL.

Security readout for executives and security teams

Drupal 7 sites before 7.5 could expose private comment-attached files. If a user cannot view the parent content, they may still retrieve the attached file when they know or guess its direct file URL. The main business risk is unintended disclosure of sensitive uploaded documents. Exposure is limited to Drupal 7.x before 7.5 with affected File upload field configurations, especially comment attachments stored in the private file directory. Sites without Drupal 7, without those fields, or already updated to 7.5 or later are not indicated as affected by the source bundle. Treat as a targeted confidentiality risk, not an emergency wormable issue based on provided evidence. Prioritize remediation for Drupal 7 sites that store sensitive documents, customer files, internal records, or regulated data in comment upload fields. Mitigation focus: Upgrade affected Drupal core installations to version 7.5 or later.; Review Drupal security advisory guidance for any site-specific remediation details.; Audit File upload fields attached to comments and private file storage..
