CVE-2006-5957: Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in INFINICART allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL comman...

Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in INFINICART allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) groupid parameter in (a) browse_group.asp, (2) productid parameter in (b) added_to_cart.asp, and (3) catid and (4) subid parameter in (c) browsesubcat.asp. NOTE: the vendor has disputed this report, saying "The vulnerabilities mentioned were never present in our official released products but only in the unofficial demo version. However we do appreciate the information. We have update our demo version and made sure all those vulnerabilities are fixed.

Security readout for executives and security teams

CVE-2006-5957 describes reported SQL injection issues in INFINICART, but the vendor disputed official product exposure and said only an unofficial demo version was affected. Business urgency depends on whether any old INFINICART demo, derivative, or customized ASP shopping-cart code remains internet-facing. Likely exposure is narrow and legacy-focused: old INFINICART demo deployments, copied demo code, or customized ASP pages matching the reported filenames. Official released products are disputed by the vendor, and the source bundle does not identify affected versions. Set priority after confirming exposure. If no INFINICART or copied demo code exists, risk is likely negligible. If exposed legacy ASP commerce code exists, prioritize removal or review because SQL injection can affect customer and order data. Mitigation focus: Confirm whether any INFINICART demo or derivative code is deployed publicly.; Check vendor guidance for the stated demo update and any official product clarification.; Remove or restrict exposed legacy demo instances and unused ASP shopping-cart code..
